Drug and Alcohol Testing

Pre-Employment, Random, Reasonable Cause, Post-Accident, Return-to-Duty

Limiting downtime and keeping employees in the field working is one of the most important things for many companies. Our experienced staff provides our customers a completely secure and professional means of drug and alcohol testing. We do this by providing absolute discretion and confidentiality when collecting specimens at your worksite or company facilities.

DOT Drug Testing

DOT Random Drug & Alcohol Testing

The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that all covered employees be enrolled in a DOT approved Random Consortium Selection Program. The selection of any covered employee must be made by a computerized selection process and any covered employee selected for a drug and alcohol test must immediately proceed to take the test once notified.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) determines the percentages that each consortium must select for a drug & alcohol test. As an example, the FMCSA Consortium must select 50% of its members for a drug test annually and 10% for an alcohol test.

Failing to follow DOT regulations can result in substantial fines and penalties by the DOT.

DOT Post Accident Drug & Alcohol Testing

The Department of Transportation (DOT) requires that any covered employee immediately proceed to take a drug and breath alcohol test in the event of an accident which falls under the DOT post-accident drug and alcohol testing requirements. When possible the covered employee can contact Pinicon and the drug and alcohol test can be conducted on-site.

Medical Marijuana-Related to DOT

We want to make it perfectly clear that the DOJ guidelines will have no bearing on the Department of Transportation’s regulated drug testing program. We will not change our regulated drug testing program based upon these guidelines to Federal prosecutors.

Additional DOT Drug Testing Information

The Department of Transportation only recognizes and authorizes a 5-panel urine drug test and a breath alcohol confirmation test for compliance with 49 CFR Part 40. Our staff at Pinicon are certified and trained in DOT drug specimen collections and DOT breath alcohol testing.

Department of Transportation (DOT)

If you are DOT regulated company or an individual employed in a safety-sensitive position, Pinicon offers DOT drug and alcohol testing and other DOT required services for FMCSA, FTA, FRA, PHMSA, USCG, and FAA.

NON-DOT DRUG AND ALCOHOL TESTING

Drug-Free Workplace (Employers)

There are many states that encourage employers to be a drug-free workplace and several states provide a discount on worker’s compensation premiums if the business owner is certified as a drug-free workplace and the drug testing program complies with state law.

Pinicon can also provide non-DOT instant drug tests, where the results are available on-site. However, if an instant test has a non-negative result the specimen will be sent to a certified laboratory for confirmation testing.

On-site drug testing is a convenient and cost-effective method when a company has multiple employees needing a drug or alcohol test.

On-Site Drug Testing

Pinicon Services provides on-site drug testing services in which a certified drug testing specialist travels to your business or other specified location such as an accident scene or work site to perform a drug or alcohol test.

Drug Testing:

  • Utilized in most cases by companies needing multiple employee drug tests performed on-site which will eliminate the need for employees to leave the worksite and go to a testing center, hospital or clinic. This prevents “down time”, added hours on a time card and now more than ever exposure to illnesses and viruses.
  • Available when an employer wishes to conduct a “sweep” due to reasonable suspicion of drug use in the work place.
  • Services are also utilized for post-accident situations for DOT and NON-DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.
